Life in AK....85 Degree Weather

This just in..Next week they are calling for the temp to get up to 85 degrees. Thats record breaking and extremely exciting. Unfortunately, I will be working the entire week so I wont be able to enjoy it all that much. Maybe I will make time to take a bike ride.

Uh, keep in mind I'm not sure who "they" are.....

And so, the story goes...I had to decompose

Well Well Well, another month pretty well gone. I have to admit, this one flew by and sadly, I had a lot of trouble keeping this blog updated. However, I have internet now and am back in the loop, ready to write again.
Today is Monday...Seriously? Monday already?! Ugh! Feels like it should be Friday. Working six days a week really makes time fly, specially on the seventh day, when it is your only day to relax. This past Sunday (my day off) I took a trip to the "end of the road." It was a gorgeous day and everyone was out playing in the sun. At the end of the road is a boat ramp and camping ground that was filled with people, of course. I love that about Juneau. Everyone can't get enough of the sun. People flock to the beaches and rip down to bikinis to sunbath in 55 degree weather. Ha! I love it!
So, this entire week I am on bus duty. That means that it's an early morning every day and usually a late evening clocking out. However, overtime is time and a half pay, so that will be nice. I guess I can't complain too much. At least I have a job. So many in the lower 48 seem to be struggling with keeping or finding jobs. Luckily, the "recession" doesn't seem to be affecting Alaska to badly.
Tonight, I am relaxing. Kari and I rented movies yesterday and we still have two to finish watching. That looks like that will be on the agenda some time this evening. I have to finish laundry and cook dinner for myself sometime as well. Maybe I should stop procrastinating...it is 7:30 pm after all.

We Have Internet!

(Era, Where I work)

We have internet and it feels GREAT! We actually just hooked up wireless so I am sitting in bed typing this and I have to admit it sure is nice. I have been spending a lot of time in bed these days, as my work seems to completely exhaust me. Speaking of work, I am three weeks in now and I couldn't be happier with how it is going. I really do love my job most days. This past week I was sent up on the helicopter to do the four glacier tour. That was pretty cool. I had never been in a helicopter before and although it was a bit weird at first, I found myself enjoying the ride. I have plenty of pictures to post from that.(Me on the Taku Glacier)
Also, Mom, Kelly, Aunt Tammie, Brayden, Cayden, and Kinsey were all in this past week. It was Awesome! Unfortunately, I did have to work still, but since the sun isn't setting until around 10pm, we had plenty of daylight to spend shopping and doing touristy stuff. I really enjoyed taking them to the places I love to eat at and showing them the Shrine. Sadly, we didn't see whales but it was just gorgeous out there. I have lots of pictures from that as well.
Saying goodbye was of course very hard and it took me a few days to adjust to them being gone. Hopefully this next semester will fly by pretty fast. I am heading home for a visit over Christmas break. That is super exciting. As much as I love Juneau, I do miss all the people in Richmond and it will be nice to catch up with old friends again.
Back to reality, I have early work tomorrow. I have been on bus duty all week which means my day starts earlier then usual. I can't believe it's Friday already. Sadly, Fridays are not the end of my week. I also work Saturdays. BUT that makes it one day closer to Sunday, which I plan to spend relaxing and cat napping. Okay, Okay...as much as I would love to keep writing, my eyes are telling me it is time to call it a night and "hit the sack."
Have A Happy Friday!

First week of work...

This past week was the first of my new job at Era, the helicopter company. It was amazing. A lot of work but very nice. I have learned a lot and who can honestly say they have worked at a place like this before? I can! haha. I am enjoying myself. This upcoming work week is gonna be crazy. We have several cruise ships coming in, which means lots of tourists. I will be heading to be early all week due to exhaustion, I'm sure.
Our condo... We are all moved in and the first week there was all about getting used to the new noises of the house. I really really like it though. It is in a great location and the inside is pretty dang nice. I will try to get some pictures up on here soon. As of right now I have no internet and am sitting at a coffee place using the free internet. :) My camera is still packed away too. I will get on top of things I swear!
This next week Mom and the gang are arriving here in Juneau! That is exciting! I can't wait to see them and I'm sure the wait in the airport will see like hours and hours. I took Wednesday off and Sunday off to spend with them just in case I don't get off on time during the week. Luckily for us, the sun is rising at like 6 and not setting until after 9pm. That's a lot of daylight to use up. I can't wait!
Well, I should probably head back home soon. This coffee place is closing now. Hopefully I will have more to write about next post!

PS-I have a new address now. Ask Mom or Piper if you would like it!
